MOLECULAR IMMUNOLOGY

(NF-kB, Interferons, Nucleic Acid Sensors)

Summary:  NF-κB protein family is a master regulator of inflammation in humans, implicated in the pathogenesis of immune disorders and cancer. Interferons are key antiviral factors. Cytoplasmic PRRs are sensors of both infections and cellular damages. All these factors are orchestrating responses toward constant challenges from inside and outside of our body. Mutations or aging may disorganize these and dozen other regulators that may lead to immune and autoimmune diseases. The main goal of my projects is to reveal the molecular mechanisms of immune diseases in humans and suggest possible therapeutic targets to treat these disorders.
